Bach Tage

June 6, 2026

Saturday–Sunday, June 6–7, 2026

Mount Olive’s annual Bach Tage is a unique opportunity to spend a weekend immersed in a J. S. Bach cantata, preparing and rehearsing from chorus to chorale on Saturday, then performing Bach’s glorious music during Evening Prayer on Sunday.

This year’s Bach Tage feature Es ist dir gesagt, Mensch, was gut ist (BWV 45), based on Micah 6:8. We will also explore the work of J. S. Bach’s elder cousin, Johann Christoph Bach, and his setting of the “Nunc dimittis,” Herr, nun lässet du deinen Diener.

For the first time, we welcome Dr. Marin Jacobson as conductor. Dr. Jacobson is the Phyllis and Richard Duesenberg Chair in Lutheran Music, director of the Bach Institute, and director of Choral and Vocal Activities at Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Indiana. She is a frequent clinician and has led choral festivals for people of all ages. Her professional activities include scholarship, performance, and composition.

Early Music Minnesota, Mount Olive’s ensemble-in-residence, will offer a Saturday afternoon concert of works by Gabrieli, Barrière, and Vivaldi. Musicologist Andrew Stoebig returns for Saturday’s introductory presentation on our works of study.
