We believe God created human beings to live in relationship with each other—in communities and throughout society.
God provides rich blessing and grace when two people choose to make life-long commitments of faithfulness and love to each other. They make their promises in the presence of God, trusting that God will bless and support them both as they work to fulfill them.
Because the triune God is the center and focus of our worship, weddings at Mount Olive are informed by the same understandings of worship that shape our regular liturgical life.
That means weddings are conducted within the structure of the eucharistic liturgy we normally use. Couples work with the pastor for premarital counseling and to plan the scriptures for the liturgy and with the cantor to plan the music.
The practice of Mount Olive Lutheran Church is to offer the blessing and prayers of the church in the same liturgy whether for marriage of different-gender or same-gender couples.
There are no membership requirements, and no fees, as weddings are part of the ministry of the pastor, the cantor, and the congregation.
